About Chanzo Kilimo

A farmer-enabling enterprise for Kenya's food future.

Founded in 2023 by Conrade N. Kathiga, Chanzo Kilimo Ltd is building a Community Grains Bank that connects Kenyan farmers with land, quality inputs, training, storage and structured markets.

Mission

Improve food security through contract farming, farmland aggregation, farmer support, produce processing, storage and structured markets.

Vision

A Kenya where every eater is a stakeholder in a resilient, farmer-led food system.

Values

Integrity, transparency, farmer-first partnerships and long-term community wealth.

Our story

Chanzo Kilimo — Swahili for "the source of farming" — was founded to bridge the gap between what Kenya can grow and what Kenya eats. From a handful of pilot farms in Eastern Kenya, the programme has grown into a multi-county Community Grains Bank connecting thousands of farmers to serious, structured markets.

Farmer-enabling

Training, inputs, agronomy and market access for smallholder farmers.

Climate-smart

Drought-tolerant pulses, cassava and sweet potatoes matched to soils and rains.

Trusted markets

Structured off-take, transparent grading and on-time farmer payments.

Founder

Conrade N. Kathiga

"Everyone who eats must get involved. Food security is not just a farmer's problem — it is our shared responsibility. The Community Grains Bank exists so that every Kenyan, whether they farm, buy, sponsor or eat, can play a role in a resilient food system."
